Bucket lips take a beating. In high-impact digging conditions, the leading edge of a hydraulic excavator bucket is constantly exposed to abrasion, impact, and wear. Without protection, bucket lips wear down fast — and replacing or rebuilding a bucket lip is expensive and time-consuming.
Lip shrouds are the solution. They sit over the bucket lip and take the punishment so the bucket doesn't have to. The right lip shroud extends bucket life, reduces downtime, and lowers the total cost of operation over time.
Raptor's HEX Lip Shrouds take that protection further.

What Are Lip Shrouds?

Lip shrouds are wear parts that protect the front edge — the lip — of an excavator bucket. They act as a sacrificial layer between the bucket and the material being dug, absorbing impact and abrasion during digging cycles. When a lip shroud wears out, you replace the shroud — not the bucket. A well-chosen lip shroud significantly extends bucket life and keeps equipment in operation longer between maintenance intervals.

What Makes the HEX Design Different?

Standard lip shrouds do the job, but the geometry of a standard design has limitations. Flat or tapered profiles can shift under repeated lateral impact, leading to uneven wear and reduced coverage over time. The HEX design addresses this directly. The hexagonal profile creates a more stable fit on the bucket lip, distributing impact load more evenly across the shroud surface. The result is more consistent wear, better coverage, and longer service life compared to standard profiles.
Raptor's HEX Lip Shrouds are cut to fit hydraulic excavator buckets precisely, with lip bevel compatibility at 22.5 degrees and 35 degrees — covering the most common bucket configurations in the field.

Applications and Operating Conditions

Raptor HEX Lip Shrouds are designed for hydraulic excavator applications in demanding mining and heavy construction environments. They perform particularly well in hard rock mining where impact loads are high, abrasive ore and material conditions that accelerate wear, operations running extended shifts where downtime for maintenance is costly, and applications where bucket lip geometry makes standard shroud retention a challenge.
If your operation runs hydraulic excavators in tough digging conditions, lip shrouds should be part of your wear parts strategy.

Pairing With Raptorplate Liner Kits

For maximum bucket protection, Raptor HEX Lip Shrouds work alongside Raptorplate liner kits. While lip shrouds protect the leading edge, Raptorplate liners protect the bucket floor and sidewalls from abrasion. Together they form a complete wear protection system that extends bucket life significantly in high-abrasion environments.
